One program that I found to be very resourceful is the Tendertots Child Care Center. I love the fact that they also have a special needs program for autistic children and ADHD children as well.
Tender Tots Child Care Center was founded in January 2012. In the short time since it has been open, it has earned itself an excellent reputation as a daycare center geared towards providing children ages 6 weeks to 6 years high quality early childhood education. Our After School Program (SACC) is now open for school age children 6-12 years old.
Tender Tots provides hot, nutritious, and balanced meals and snacks to all children free of charge.
- Located In a state-of-the-art facility at 3322 Decatur Ave. Tender Tots is open Monday thru Friday from 7:30 am till 6:00 pm.
- Another facility located at 525 E.137th St is slated to open in the coming months.
Another company that was very interesting was Honey Tomes. I love Angela’s dedication and devotion to education. Her books are easy to follow, colorful and full of valuable lessons.
Angela Parrino, formerly a tenured Associate Professor of the MA in TESOL Program of the School of Education at CUNY-Hunter College, received her BA from SUNY/Stony Brook and her MA and Ph.D. from New York University. Angela has both teaching and staff development experience in the areas of English as a Second Language, Bilingual, and Foreign Language Education; she’s trilingual (English, Spanish and Italian) and a published author. She has taught in New York City public schools and colleges as well as abroad in South America and Europe. She has made numerous presentations on varied topics in education and language learning.
Her foray into healthcare began with her father’s hemorrhagic cerebellar stroke in 1997. Before pursuing PA studies, she shadowed a medical team at New York Cornell (Pediatric Endocrinology), at NYU Medical Center (Pediatric Oncology and Epilepsy Unit), St.Vincent’s (varied hospital departments with a special focus on OR and ED) and Cabrini Hospice (Bereavement). In 2004, she worked as a translator and surgical secretary in Iquitos, Peru for Interplast, a non-profit organization that provides gratis surgeries for indigenous children with physical defects.
Among other things, Angela currently prepares foreign-born nurses for recertification in NYC at Phillips Beth Israel School of Nursing, where she herself is completing the requirements for RN licensure. She created GP’s Honey Tomes, LLC, a company dedicated to the production of wellness materials for children and adults, November 2009.
Verizon was also there promoting toddler friendly products. The one that caught my eye is the Crayola Color Studio HD. I love this product because anything is better than drawing on the walls. Lol!
iMarker is the key to unlock limitless discovery and play on your iPad.
It’s a digital marker, crayon, pencil and paint brush that interacts with the Crayola ColorStudio HD™ app to create all your favorite Crayola colors on the iPad’s Multi-Touch display. As you color, animated characters, music, sound and visual effects bring scenes to life, and surprises await on every page.
The next Mommy to Bee event is scheduled for Sunday, October 20, 2013 in Lower Westchester.
